The OMD-100 provides a systematic method for the destruction of compact discs containing private and confidential information before disposal. This Optical Media destroyer, does not rely on software and will permanently destroy the physical data storage layer of each CD.
The OMD-100 automatically destroys data, audio, and video from CDs by grinding the upper three layers (i.e., label layer, protective layer, and reflective layer) from CDs. The remaining polycarbonate layer of the CD is recyclable and is completely free of data and labels.
Operation is simple: Stack up to 100 disks on the removable hopper; place in the OMD-100; and press the start button. The OMD-100 will automatically move one disc at a time to the grinding station. Once the grinding process is complete (approximately 30 seconds), the OMD-100 will automatically stack the data-free disks. No operator assistance is required until the entire process is complete. The OMD-100’s automation process frees up the operator to complete other tasks thus saving time and money.
The material removed from the OMD-100 during the grinding stage is conveniently contained in a separate vacuum system connected to a vacuum port on the back of the OMD-100. Since the OMD-100 only removes the label, protective layer and data layer from CDs, the amount of waste is very small, thus allowing the polycarbonate layer, the bulkiest portion of the CD, to be recycled.
- Completely destroys all data from CDs.
- Automatically destroys 100 CDs in an unattended batch process.
- Grinds labels from the tops of CDs, preventing unauthorized identification of subject matter.
- Completely removes the CD reflective data layer.
