Optical Drive & Library Arrays - Optical RAID

StorageHeaven OpticalRAID solutions complement existing optical technologies, optical autoloaders, and optical libraries. The StorageHeaven Library solutions are based on third generation TapeRAID technology to provide the highest optical performance, backup/restore automation, and fault tolerant data protection!

OpticalRAID OptiStor2, Optical Library Mirroring

Technical Features

  • Ease of Use
  • Flash Upgradeable
  • No special software drivers required
  • Compatible with all major operating systems
  • Single SCSI ID
  • Plug and Play
Product Highlights
  • Increased Data Availability - Operation continues even in the event of a single drive, media or robotics failure.
  • Ease of Media Management - Either mirror copy can be used independently for data recovery.
  • Scalability - Achieves scalability by simply adding controllers for additional drives.
  • Graphical User Interface - StorageHeaven's "Ultimate" software (optional) incorporates full on-line and off-line controller configuration and diagnostics under Windows 2000/NT operating systems.
  • Plug Compatibility -The OpticalRAID array controller is presented to the host as a single SCSI optical drive providing "plug and play" with host systems supporting SCSI-1, SCSI-2 and SCSI-3 optical protocols.
  • Robotics Support - Compatible with existing autoloader, jukebox and library software.
  • Packaging - Available in internal half height, tabletop and rackmount form factors.
Operating Modes
  • Mirroring - simplifies Disaster Recovery Plans by writing the "exact data" to two mirrored drives simultaneously. Supports up to two mirrored drive sets per Stor2™ controller.
  • Pass-thru - allows direct accessing of individual drives within the array.
  • Offline Copy, Copy/Verify and Verification Only - provides high speed offline media duplication and verification operations initiated from the StorageHeaven 'Ultimate' GUI or the front operator panel without host system intervention.
  • Offline Diagnostics - performs drive read and write tests initiated from StorageHeaven 'Ultimate' GUI or the front operator panel.

OpticalRAID OptiRAILStor, Multiple Optical Library Striping

Technical Features

  • Ease of Use
  • Flash Upgradeable
  • No special software drivers required
  • Compatible with all major operating systems
  • Single SCSI ID
  • Plug and Play
Product Highlights
  • Increased Performance - data is striped across up to five independent parallel array channels. Data transfer rate is increased by as much as four times the speed of a single optical drive.
  • Increased Data Availability - parity information stored on a parity drive is used to recover data if an optical media containing data cannot be read. Read and write operations continue in the event of a drive or media failure.
  • Data Reconstruction -recreates data previously written to a failed drive or bad media.
  • Ease of Media Management - allows inserting of the "stripe optical media set" in any order.
  • Scalability - Achieves scalability by simply adding controllers for additional drives.
  • Graphical User Interface - StorageHeaven "Ultimate" software (optional) incorporates full on-line and off-line controller configuration and diagnostics under Windows 2000/NT operating systems.
  • Data Striping - across 2 or 4 drives with or without an additional parity drive. Data transfer rate and online storage capacity are increased by a factor of two or four respectively.
  • Mirroring - simplifies Disaster Recovery Plans by writing the "exact data" to up to five separate drives simultaneously.
