Easy Library Management
Simplicity of design is the foundation for the libraries' reliable operation. A chassis-mounted, intelligent robotic mechanism picks and places with only two motors. Library management is easy with one or two 15 cartridge removable magazine pack(s). An integrated dust cover protects tapes throughout media rotations.

Investment Protection
Your investment is protected since multiple generations of Sony's AIT technology is supported in the A2.15 and A2.30 libraries -- up to AIT 4, which is specified to provide 520 GB/cartridge and 62.4 MB/sec throughput with compression. Users benefit from a seamless migration path.
Advanced Drive Technology
Sony's AIT drives are designed with Memory in Cassette (MIC) architecture. The MIC consists of a memory chip built into the data cartridge that holds the system's log and other user-defined information. Applications that benefit from MIC's capabilities include hierarchical storage management, video server, film editing and real-time data acquisition.

Universal Load Plate Design
One of many key features in Breece Hill's engineering design is the patented universal load plate on which tape drives are mounted. This allows you to use drives not only in your Q2.15, but in any other Breece Hill library as well by swapping them in and out in the field. The universal load plate enables the drive to be field replaceable, and protects your investment by enabling you to scale up as your data capacities grow.
Drive Independent
Even more important, the universal load plate allows the library to be drive independent. This means it can support two different tape drive technologies in the same library. As such, you can seamlessly migrate to new or different linear technologies as your backup needs change.

Embedded Intelligence
Embedded intelligence distinguishes Breece Hill's libraries. The company's patented robotic positioning system consisting of a "learning algorithm," automatically and continuously re-calibrates the library to compensate for any changes in the library's physical environment. Moreover, extensive recovery routines are enabled in a power-out situation. The library not only remembers what it was doing, but completes the action when power is restored, significantly reducing downtime and service costs.
